Sports Vinyl Flooring

Vinyl floors are used to create multi-purpose game spaces. The hard surface provides underfoot stability, making it ideal for basketball and netball courts. You can use vinyl sports flooring to cover huge areas in schools and recreation centers. Vinyl is the most affordable alternative for sports hall flooring, with excellent all-around performance and durability. Vinyl floors have a 10-year lifespan, albeit the top surface is more susceptible to abrasion damage than PU or timber. If you have a limited budget and don’t mind replacing your sports hall floor every decade, vinyl is the way to go. Vinyl performs well for a shorter periods and is appropriate for all sports, including basketball and indoor hockey. Vinyl is also an excellent choice for particular elastic performance.

What is the process of installing sports vinyl flooring?

Sports vinyl floors exist in a variety of shapes and sizes, but sports flooring installation is a systematic procedure. The procedure is as follows:

  • Removal of the previous floor: If applicable, the old floor is removed. It is taken away and recycled.
  • Preparation of the subfloor: Subfloors are constructed from plywood and concrete floorboards. Floorboards require boarding over them to protect them. The sports flooring will otherwise compress into the floorboards. In the case of concrete, it is not always necessary to use boards. However, the concrete must be free of cracks and in good shape.

  • Installation of underlay: Underlay is used in the best sports flooring installations. This is not carpet underlay, but a high-performance rubber or foam underlay. Underlayment is required to protect the subfloor from damage. Instead of the subfloor, the top surface will compress into the underlay. Underlay can be installed in two or three levels to meet the specified use case, such as deadlifting zones.
  • Surface installation: Once the underlay is in place, we can install the top surface. When wet, the top surface will be non-slip and easy to clean. An adhesive will be sprayed onto the underlay before the top surface is fitted. The top surface will adhere to the underlayment. The glue will keep the floor in place, but it may be removed without damaging the underlay.
  • Cleaning: The floor is now ready for use, as the top surface has been put down. But before we depart, we’ll clean the floor to remove the installation’s footprints and dust. Your floor is now ready for use for workouts.
